“ | Get ready to embark on a journey through Odyssey, a four-point map set in ancient ruins and a nearby marble quarry on a remote island in the Greek archipelago.
— Odyssey publicity blurb

Odyssey is a community-created Payload map added in the Summer 2024 Update. It is set amongst the ancient ruins and neighbouring marble quarry of a remote island in the Greek Archipelago.
BLU starts high on a hilltop archaeological site and must descend deep into the industrial quarry below to destroy RED’s enormous marble cutting machine. The map features a descending layout where the cart path never travels uphill, reversing typical Payload gameplay by providing attackers with abundant high ground. After reaching the final checkpoint, BLU must stand on the final platform in a manner similar to capturing a control point objective, slowly lowering RED team's large marble cutter to detonate the Cart.
Odyssey was contributed to the Steam Workshop.
Contents
Locations
The following locations are described from the BLU perspective.
Checkpoint A - Temple
- BLU Spawn: A large spawn with three exits. The left exit leads to an open area behind the cart and a staircase that ascends to the Acropolis Ruins on top of the hill, the middle exit leads to cart's start, and the right exit leads to the flank on the right side of the cart's tracks.
- Payload Start: The cart starts right outside the BLU spawn, in the front of the cart is the start of a gentle incline down the hill. To the left are the Acropolis Ruins.
- Acropolis Ruins: A top a tall hill sit the remains of an ancient acropolis, overlooking the cart's path. A small health and ammo pack can be found here.
- Steps: Connected to the Acropolis Ruins is a set of marble stairs that descend down to an entrance that leads into the Temple.
- First Cliff flank: This flank extends from underneath the BLU spawn's right exit and goes all the way to checkpoint A, following the edge of the playable map on the right side of the cart. There are three entrances/exits to and from it: one underneath the BLU spawn, one underneath the Vitruvian vase Temple and one inside the Shipping House.
- Vitruvian Vase Temple: A small temple located at the first turn of the cart's track.
- Shipping House: Connecting the Temple with the First Cliff Flank is a large house with a roof that can be stood on.
- Temple: The largest temple found on the map. Within it is the location of the first checkpoint. It also features wooden scaffolding and large stone blocks that serve as cover. Capturing the first checkpoint seals off one of the exits for RED spawn and unlocks a shortcut next to it which can be used by the BLU team.
- RED Spawn: A large spawn with three exits. The top left exit leads to the Observation Platform, the bottom left exit leads to checkpoint B on the ground, and the right exit leads to checkpoint A inside the Temple, which is closed after said checkpoint is captured.
Checkpoint B - Steps
- Serpentine Descent: After exiting the Temple, the cart now needs to descend down a steep and winding slope in order to reach checkpoint B.
- Mossy Perch: Located near the RED spawn's closed-off right exit is a balcony that overviews the Serpentine Descent.
- Observation Platform: Parallel to the Mossy Perch, but separated from it by a thick wall is another platform offering good view of the cart's path. It is accessible from either RED's top-left spawn exit or via a set of stairs.
- Flank Route: There is a flank route starting in front of the locked building that becomes the BLU spawn if they capture checkpoint B, and goes along the right side of the cart's track into the Scaffolded Temple.
- Scaffolded Temple: Located besides the second checkpoint is another temple, this one covered in various scaffolding and fences. It connects to the Flank Route.
- Checkpoint B: The checkpoint sits on very low and open ground inbetween the Serpentine Descent and the Scaffolded Temple.
Checkpoint C - Quarry
- Second BLU Spawn: After securing checkpoint B, BLU's spawn is switched to a small, single-exit room with the Flank Route in front and the Serpentine Descent to the left.
- Second RED Spawn: RED's spawn relocates to a large room with 4 exits. The right door leads to the Odessa Mining Corp HQ, while the left doors exit to a ledge over checkpoint D.
- Second Cliff Flank : Beginning at the Scaffolded Temple is a long trail following the cart's track on its right side. It stretches the whole length from point B to C, with multiple buildings, fences, and boulders separating it from the main path. There are five distinguishable exits/entrances for the flank route.
- Stone Depository: The Second Cliff Flank eventually ends at the Stone Depository, a large industrial building featuring two floors and many entrances and openings.
- Overpass: A wooden bridge attached to an oil pipeline connects the Stone Depository with the Odessa Mining Corp HQ. The cart's tracks also pass underneath it.
- Odessa Mining Corp HQ: Located just besides the checkpoint is an enormous facility half buried into the nearby mountain. It features three floors: the ground floor which is level with the checkpoint and has a medium health pack, the first floor which contains one of RED's spawn exits and the third BLU spawn, and the upper most floor which is connected to the Stone Depository via the Pipe Overpass.
- Workers Barracks: Opposite the Odessa Mining Corp HQ and separated from it by the cart's tracks is a small shed directly bordering the cliff. Attached to its back wall is a staircase that leads past the checkpoint.
- Checkpoint: The Checkpoint is on very low ground with many ledges and bridges overhead. Capturing it moves BLU spawn to Odessa Mining Corp HQ's second floor and closes RED's spawn exit that leads to the same location, leaving RED with only those exits that lead to the final checkpoint.
Checkpoint D - Saw
- Hollowed-out Hill: With checkpoint C secured, the cart makes a U-turn and goes through a tall mountain that has been dug out.
- Wooden Platform: After exiting the tunnel, the cart starts descending down for one final time, passing by an elevated platform to its left.
- Final Building: Located on the right side of the cart's final stretch is a building with two floors and a roof that can be stood on. It is positioned near the edge of a quarry.
- Quarry Flank: This flank starts near the Final Building and leads to the RED Shed, following along the quarry's edge. Found within it is a large health pack.
- Cavern: Another flank route begins near the Wooden Perch, goes underneath the RED Battlements and also ends up at the RED Shed.
- RED Shed: A small, two-story cabin that serves to connect the area of the final checkpoint with the RED Battlements. It also contains a medium health and ammo pack.
- RED Battlements: A tall ledge that overlooks the depression in which checkpoint D is positioned. It can be accessed from either the RED spawn or, by climbing up the RED Shed.
- Checkpoint: The checkpoint sits on a flat, rectangular area that is located directly underneath a large bucket-wheel excavator that destroys the cart. To the right of the checkpoint is the Quarry Flank and the Final Building, while to the left are the RED Battlements and the Cavern below it.
