Ambush has been haunted and creepified. Welcome to your doom!
Erebus publicity blurb

Erebus is a community-created Attack/Defend map released during the Scream Fortress 2021 update. It is set in a haunted mine at night, located somewhere in a forest. A nearby volcano and hydroelectric dam overflowing with lava have caused pits of lava to open up on the map. It is a Halloween version of Ambush.

The setup timer is 1 minute and 10 seconds for all three stages.

Erebus was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Underworld

The underworld can be accessed by capturing a control point and entering the purple portals. When in the underworld, players slowly lose health over time, two ghosts shoot Crit-boosted rockets and grenades at players, and an unkillable skeleton tries to kill players. Players that make it out through a portal gain a stock ÜberCharge effect for 10 seconds.

Locations

Pictogram comment.png The following locations are described from the BLU perspective.

Stage 1

Point A

  • BLU spawn: BLU starts out the round inside of a large, run-down wooden mansion featuring three exits, two on the right leading to the Tree Stumps and one on the left.
  • Tree Stumps: A name given to an open area right outside BLU's right spawn exit, containing multiple tree stumps as well as a medium health and ammo pack.
  • Lower Area: This is a relatively small area that contains a large health and ammo pack, found right outside BLU's left spawn exit. It sits in a small depression, compared to the first capture point, requiring BLU to ascend a short incline to access the Lumber Yard. A Ghost spawns in here and travels to the Sawmill.
  • Lumber yard: The location of the first capture point. It's filled with saws, logs and wooden planks.

Point B

  • Sawmill: The large wooden building attached to the Lumber Yard, used for separating capture points A and B. It has many corridors and acts as a direct line of approach to the final point. It has two floors, with the upper floor additionally featuring a balcony overlooking the second capture point and its Courtyard.
    • Dropdown: Connecting the Sawmill's two floors is an opening in the floor/ceiling, accessible from a corridor directly behind the previous capture point.
  • Mineshafts: There are two mineshafts running underground. Both of them act as a flank route to capture point B, and both of their entrances are at the Sawmill's sides.
    • Right Mineshaft: The right-most mineshaft can be accessed by going down a slope located next to the Sawmill. It has a medium ammo pack and leads to a one-way gate (only openable from inside the Mineshaft) that connects it to the Coffin House.
    • Left Mineshaft: The other mineshaft is located next to the Dropdown and it leads to a building on capture point B's left side.
  • Courtyard: This is the large open area separating the Sawmill from the RED spawn. Located in its middle is a patch of pumpkins, while all the way in the back is a group of rocks forming a tall cliff face right outside RED spawn's exit. The second capture point is located at the base of this cliff.
  • RED spawn: A large building shadowing the Courtyard. It has three exits in total, two that lead to the cliff above the capture point and one further to the left.
  • Coffin House: To the right of RED spawn is a smaller building containing a large ammo pack and a medium health pack. Also serves as the exit for the Left Mineshaft.

Stage 2

Point A

  • BLU spawn: It has four exits, two on the right, one wide exit in the middle and another exit on the left, located high up.
  • Ravine: This is the long, deep ditch which takes up a shape of the letter 'L'. It stretches from BLU spawn's middle exit all the way to the first capture point. Found within it is a large ammo pack and a medium health pack.
  • Goldstream Shed: On the Ravine's right side is a small wooden shed containing a large ammo pack and a small health pack.
  • Cliff: On the Ravine's left side is the Cliff, accessible by crossing a wooden bridge connecting it to the Goldstream Shed. The Cliff also leads to capture point A.
  • Cave: Another way to access the Cliff, bypassing the Goldstream Shed, is from a cave on the left side.

Point B

  • Sniper's deck: Just behind Point A is a tall building overviewing the next capture point. It has a single entrance, a wooden staircase coming out of the Ravine, that then splits off into two exits leading to the Central Area and the Church. It contains two small health packs and a medium ammo pack.
  • Hunker-down Shed: And just left of the Point A is a tiny shed embedded into the surrounding terrain, similar to a bunker. It has a medium health and ammo pack inside it and a small health pack on its roof. It is connected to a corridor that leads to the Central Area's lower part, below the Church.
  • Far Left Flank: Above the aforementioned Shed is a flank route that bypasses the Central Area altogether, leading directly to the Church. A Ghost occasionally spawns from a ditch containing a large health pack and haunts this area. At the end of this flank is a pitfall filled with deadly lava.
  • Central Area: In between the Church and the Sniper's Deck is the Central Area, a relatively open location filled with many platforms, bridges and other map geometry. Found at its bottom is a medium health and ammo pack.
  • Church: The Point B itself is encased within a stone Church located on top of a hill-like structure overlooking the Central Area. It is directly connected to the Sniper's Deck via a wooden bridge. Located behind the Church is an open area connecting it to RED's left spawn exit.
  • RED spawn: RED team's spawn is located to the right of the Church, not behind it. It has two exits, the right most one leads to the Central Area, while the left most one goes directly to the Church.

Stage 3

Point A

  • BLU spawn: The BLU spawn has three exits in total: two that lead to the Left Yard and one, on the far right, located inside the Gray Gravel Co.
  • Building 237: A building named after the sign displayed on it. It is a slim, but long, upside-down-U shaped corridor whose upper-right corner ascends to the Elevation that houses the first capture point. It contains a large health and ammo pack on its left side, as well as a small health pack and medium ammo pack in its right section.
  • Gray Gravel Co.: Next to Building 237, it is a medium-sized structure leading to the Right Yard.
  • Two Yards: The Left Yard is located directly outside the BLU spawn and the Right Yard is located next to the first capture point. The Two Yards are separate from each other by a section of Building 237.
  • Elevation: An elevated wooden platform connecting Building 237 with the Computer Room. Located below it is another wooden platform that has a medium ammo pack and a small health kit, and located further below that is the Garage.
  • Garage: A hidden room below Point A. It connects the Right Yard to the Ditch. Also has a large health and ammo pack.

Point B

  • Computer Room: The building which serves as a direct path to the final capture point. It contains many servers and computers, as well as a giant satellite dish on top.
  • Ditch: To the left of the Computer Room is a depression in the ground that has a medium health and ammo pack, as well as the entrance to the Under Flank. A Ghost occasionally spawns here and travels upwards to the Under Flank.
  • Under Flank: A route which dips under the ground before coming up on the left side of the Propane Tank Yard.
  • Propane Tank Yard: The Propane Tank Yard is a large open area with a red propane tank in it, as well as the final capture point situated in its
  • Warehouse: Directly attached to the propane tank is a red-coloured building that is connected to the Computer Room via a dropdown.
  • RED Spawn: The final RED spawn is situated directly behind Point B. It has five exits in total, two on the left side that connect it to the Under Flank and the Computer Room as well as three exits on the right that lead directly to the Propane Tank Yard and a small clearing overlooking the final capture point.
