Trivia
- This hat was in fashion during the late 17th century and 18th century, falling out of style shortly before the French Revolution. At the peak of its popularity, the tricorne was worn as civilian dress and as part of military and naval uniforms.
- This hat is commonly associated with pirates, who commonly wear eyepatches, much like the Demoman himself.
- A 'tippler' also refers to the Demoman, as it describes a person who engages in regular, excessive or habitual consumption of alcohol. Pirates, too are associated with the imbibing of intoxicating liquor, albeit as rum or grog.
- The distinguishing characteristic of the hat is also practical. The turned-up portions of the brim form gutters that direct rainwater away from the wearer's face.
- During the Mann-Conomy update, the Tippler's Tricorne was replaced with another community pirate hat (specifically, a Drinking Hat made by Knuckle) with bright RED and BLU team colored skins and a yellow rim around the fold - however Valve have stated that this was an error. The new hat's creator stated that an update would be released that would turn the Tippler's Tricorne back to normal and add the other pirate hat as a separate hat called the Rimmed Raincatcher.
- The October 6, 2010 update resolved the issue of the Tippler's Tricorne being replaced by the Rimmed Raincatcher.
- The hat description was written by icenine0.
