The Dark Age Defender is a community-created cosmetic item for the Demoman. It adds a wrought-iron breastplate, a codpiece, and spiked pauldrons to the Demoman's default armour, turning it into plate armour.
The Dark Age Defender was contributed to the Steam Workshop under the name "Mail Bomber".

Trivia
- The item's name refers to the Dark Ages, historical periodization used for the Middle Ages.
- This item, together with Glasgow Great Helm, was a part of Svdl's Dark Age of Demolition Demoman set.
- Originally, this item had armoured boots attached to it, and was intended to be a primary passive weapon, like the Ali Baba's Wee Booties or Bootlegger.
