Like many students, the Heavy earned his PhD in Russian Literature with late nights of studying and paid with his eyesight. These glasses may fix it, but they won't help the wearer learn counting to 3.
Gabe Glasses publicity blurb

The Gabe Glasses are a community-created miscellaneous item for the Heavy. They are a pair of wire-framed reading glasses similar to the ones worn by Gabe Newell.

The Gabe Glasses were contributed to the game via the Steam Workshop under the name "Honcho's Heavy Reader".
