The License to Maim is a promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It is the Freelance Police badge used by Sam and Max from the Sam & Max franchise; a gold badge with the words "Sam & Max Freelance Police" and a number one engraved upon it. A blue star with the scales of justice on it also appears centered on the badge.

This item is awarded to players who earn the Poker Night at the Inventory achievement Special Item: Max by defeating Max in a knockout round. As of May 23, 2019, the game has been removed from sale. However, any owners may still obtain its promotional items.
