The Soldier

The Spiral Sallet is an unlockable promotional headwear item originally originally exclusive to the Soldier, but in the September 6, 2011 Patch, was made available to all classes. It is a medieval knight's Template:W war helmet decorated with team-colored paint and a fluffy plume. This hat appears in a flipped-down position when worn by the Pyro.

The Spiral Sallet is awarded to players who complete the Spiral Knights achievement Mission Accomplished.

Update history

June 14, 2011 Patch

  • The Spiral Sallet was added to the game.

September 6, 2011 Patch

  • Updated the Spiral Sallet to be equippable by all classes.

Bugs

  • This hat will sometimes clip with the Soldier's back, such as in the default stance for the Rocket Launcher.
  • This hat also clips with Lord Cockswain's Novelty Mutton Chops and Pipe.
  • This hat has minor clipping issues with the Summer Shades and the Big Steel Jaw of Summer Fun.
  • Even if launched through Steam, the player will only receive Steam achievements, and therefore this hat, if logged in using Steam as opposed to a Spiral Knights account or Sega Pass account.
  • The hat appears to not be fitted correctly for some classes, such as the Sniper.

Trivia

  • The description refers to knights in Template:W, which move by "jumping" over other pieces in an L formation.
  • The Spiral Sallet is named after the eponymous hat from Spiral Knights, though it bears more resemblance to the Mighty Cobalt Helm.
  • Owning Team Fortress 2 and completing the tutorial grants a Spiral Knights in-game message from Saxton Hale, and upon completing the Mission Accomplished achievement, a complimentary message from Mr. Reddy.
  • A Template:W has a very pronounced neck plate at the back, and very rarely features a hinged visor. The Spiral Sallet more closely resembles a Template:W style helmet.
