This nickname refers to the fact that Date Masamune also used an eyepatch, although the Demoman's eyepatch is on the other eye. Moreover, Masamune lost his eye from infection, in contrast to how the Demoman lost his to a failed experiment.

The Samur-Eye is a community-created promotional cosmetic item for the Demoman. It is a black kabuto helmet with a wide, pale yellow crescent mounted on the front.

This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-purchased Total War: SHOGUN 2 on Steam before March 15, 2011.
